1.0 Approval of the Minutes from the November 21, 2006 Regular meeting
MOTION – Moved by Greg Feth to adopt the minutes from the November 21, 2006 Regular meeting as presented, seconded by Patty Green. CARRIED.
2.0 Business Arising From the Minutes
2.1 Awards Banquet (Feb. 3, 2006) update, details and assignments were discussed
3.0 New Business
3.1 AFGA Conference
MOTION – Moved by Kerry McKenzie to support the 2007 AFGA Conference by sponsoring the vests and bandannas for conference volunteers ($600.00), sponsoring one coffee break ($750.00) and donating one print for auction, seconded by Patty Green. CARRIED.
– as the association has over 500 members, we can send up to seven delegates (Rod Rosland, Kerry McKenzie, Dawn McKenzie, Pete Green, Patty Green, Rod Svenson, Jim Johnson)
– the Conference committee is still looking for 25 volunteers
– review and discussion on Resolutions and Recommendations
3.2 Election of Officers – moved to end of meeting
3.3 Zone 1 meeting (Rod Rosland)
– clarification – Associate members are not covered by AFGA insurance
– Casino in Lethbridge March 28 & 29 2007, need volunteers
– $1000 grants are available for youth programs – Patty Green will write proposals and grant applications for the youth programs administered by our association
– report on pheasant hen release in the south, some complaints on bird quality
– moose and elk count in the Peace region – numbers are way up
– 3 new confirmed CWD cases in Alberta. A male mule deer from along the Red Deer River (WMU 151) tested positive for the disease. Two female mule deer were taken west of Edgerton and south of Chauvin (in WMU 234).
– Discussions on the proposed Andy Russell Wildland Park near Waterton. There is a great deal of pressure to make this a no-hunt area. Members are encouraged to contact their MLA.
– Zone 1 family camp in Fort Macleod May 18 - 21 2007.
3.4 Discussion on date for the Annual General Meeting – it was suggested that we move this to the regular meeting in June, to place it after the end of our fiscal year (May 31). Further information is required, and will be discussed with AFGA at the convention.

MOTION – Moved by Dawn McKenzie to adopt the 2006 Brooks and District Fish and Game Association financial statement as audited by Patty Green, seconded by Rick Martin. CARRIED.

4.3 Pheasant Festival Chair (Donna Martin)

4.7 Firearms Instructor (Jim Johnson)
– Ozzie Schalm is retiring as an instructor, others may be available in the area
4.8 Firearms Chair (Cliff Healy)
– reminder that firearms registration is still required – the amnesty merely protects you from prosecution for now
– there is a possibility that the Federal Conservative government may adopt legislation banning all semi-automatic long guns, as well as all restricted and prohibited firearms now legally owned and registered
– the Association executive is to set up a lunch meeting with M.P. Monte Solberg and M.L.A. Lyle Oberg to discuss this and other topics of concern
– the Association executive is to set up a lunch meeting with M.L.A. Ted Morton, Minister of Sustainable Resource Development to Discuss topics of concern (note: M.L.A. Morton is also invited th the Awards Banquet February 3, 2007)
