USING THE BLOG

To print a set of minutes -- click on that set of minutes from the list on the right, select all the text, then copy and paste it into a blank Word document. If you try to print directly from the blog you will get a bunch of graphics along with it that you probably don’t want.
Check out the links on the right hand side just under the Association profile.
"Announcements"
will have the next meeting dates, special events, etc.
"Items of Interest"
will contain AFGA press releases, emails to the Association that we feel would be of interest to members, etc. Print any of them the same way, just select the text that you want and paste it into Word.

Upcoming Events

The executive of the Brooks and District Fish and Game Association have a number of very interesting events planned for this year. Please mark these dates on your calendar and plan to come out to the many fun and informative activities scheduled.

FIREARM CLEANING CLINIC
Learn the proper cleaning techniques for various firearm actions.
- Tuesday February 19, 7:30 PM, Brooks Clays and Feathers clubhouse

GPS COURSE
Learn the many applications of a GPS unit. This evening will be valuable to beginners and people who have been using a GPS for some time.

HUNTER EDUCATION
Classes will be running for 4 weeks Mondays and Wednesdays starting March 3
and ending March 26. If interested please contact:

ANTLER/HORN MEASURING EVENING
This will be a fun evening for anyone with antlers or horns they would like measured. Bring them out; big or small.

FALL MEMBER & CELEBRITY TUNE-UP SHOOT
Come out and tune up your shooting skills and enjoy the shooting demonstration
put on by local celebrities.

January 15, 2008 Annual General Meeting

BROOKS AND DISTRICT FISH AND GAME ASSOCIATION

Call to Order – 7:35pm (Rod Rosland)
Approval of the Agenda
1.0 Approval of the Minutes from the December 18, 2007 Regular meeting
MOTION – Moved by Patty Green to adopt the minutes from the December 18, 2007 Regular meeting as presented, seconded by Lester Janke. CARRIED.
2.0 Business Arising From the Minutes
2.1 Awards Banquet (Feb. 2, 2008) update and details
– MOTION – Moved by Pete Green to purchase a .22 cal. Rifle from Jaid Gunworks to be raffled off at the awards banquet ($10 per ticket), seconded by Rod Svenson. CARRIED.
– some donors are asking for a Request For Donation letter – Patty Green will email the existing letter to Rod Svenson to be put on Association letterhead and distributed as needed.
– all donations must be at Lloyd Cook’s house by Wednesday January 30, 2008
3.0 New Business
3.1 AFGA Conference
– all voting delegates have been registered and hotel rooms booked (delegates – Rod & Shelley Rosland, Pete & Patty Green, Greg & Cathy Feth, Rod Svenson)
3.2 MOTION – Moved by Barry Rosland that the following rule be added to the Rifle Range rules, seconded by Brian Peers. CARRIED:
When loading any firearm, its bolt or action must not be fully closed and locked until the rifle is in the horizontal position with its muzzle pointed at the target. Loaded rifles shall remain in this position until fired.
3.3 MOTION – moved by Pete Green that we purchase sixteen large square flax bales from any supplier, should we not be able to secure them through donations, seconded by Kerry McKenzie. CARRIED. (Lester Janke will arrange)
3.4 Zone 1 meeting report (Brian Peers)
– the Province’s new Open Spaces pilot program was discussed extensively
– the Milk River Ridge property has been purchased
– the AFGA history book is back on track and available for purchase ($50, 10% discount for early orders)
– current AFGA membership – approx. 16,500
– commercial fishing was discussed
– ACA grants for youth programs are available, applications must be in before the end of January. Rick Martin has the details.
